My blog has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know any ways to help reduce content from being ripped off? I’d definitely appreciate it.

Thanks for the many great tricks and tips, as a former Windows power user it eases my conversion from the Win to the Linux platform a lot.
Though I think an “Equivalent programs under Linux for windows’ convertee” would be a great addition.
I especially struggled to find a decent Internet Download Manager equivalent under Linux, but found none, and so I stuck to IDM with Wine.

I’ve been meaning to do a piece on that, but haven’t got around to that just yet. Besides, I’m quite a non demanding user. Give me a browser, a terminal, and I’m all set
Other than that, I rarely strand from the obvious choice. That is Gimp for photo editing, Picasa for photo management, Rhythmbox for songs, VLC for videos, Virtualbox for VMs, etc etc 
I do prefer NeverNote (evernote client for linux) for note taking instead of tomboy. Well actually I prefer tomboy, but it hasn’t got a usable client app for android. With evernote/nevernote, I can sync notes from my pc, phone, and tablet

As for download manager, well, I rarely has a need for one, since I usually delegate my download needs to a little DLink NAS box that I own. But when I do need one, I usually just user wget. Internet connection in Indonesia is crappy, so I really rely on wget’s ability in automatically retrying download until it’s completed
, by the way, if you look around, you can find a front end GUI for wget. I haven’t tried one, since I usually starts wget from cron. You may also look into this page: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/list-of-download-managers-available-in-ubuntu.html
Comment by ikhsan March 25, 2012 @ 11:10I finally got the hang and taste for Linux, and a lot of programs I have been using on windoz were open source and so they run perfectly on my Linux box, as for multimedia I find that Ubuntu restricted extras is a fine bundle to play back any kind of media you might have.
You were right about the terminal, I mean using tool chains and native *nix editors is so fun, and I am much more productive now, plus the technologies I have been developing with before are all open source, think web frameworks, Apache… and so most of them run out of the box on my Linux box, and those that don’t I can easily apt-get them.
so all in all, all I needed to do is give Linux a test drive, et voilà I fell in love with it right away.
Oh before I forget, you gave so many pointers in your comment response that I think it ought to be made into an article, just my 2 cents
